Managing Roles

Overview

MOPS 4.0 comes with a set of predefined roles that gives access to different features in MOPS 4.0. It is also possible to add and define new roles based on the predefined roles. All roles can be viewed in the list of roles. The predefined roles can not be edited or deleted as they are crucial for the function of the application. An account can have multiple roles assigned to it to combine certain permissions.

Roles & Permissions

Roles have a set of permissions and an account can have multiple roles assigned to it in order to gain access to certain operations without having full access as an administrator would.

This is an overview of the predefine roles.

Role Description
Administrator Provides access to all operations in MOPS 4.0.
User Gives the user general permission to use MOPS 4.0. Intended for users within the organization. New, more specific roles may be based on this role.
Operator Provides access to view Trends, Displays and Dashboards. Based on the User role and inherits permissions given to it.
Designer Provides access to view, build and edit Trends, Displays, Dashboards and Components.
External Role for users with no permissions by default. Create a specialized role based on this role and give permissions to the new role. Intended for users where permissions given to User role exceeds intended access.
TagSearchOperator Trend require users to have role TagSearchOperator to allow tag search to be used. The reason for this function is to allow a pre-configured trend to be used by users with limited access and not allow them to search for any other data than the trend have been configured for.
